In person in NYC/Brooklyn • Teletherapy across New York State, Massachusetts and Colorado
What Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Is
Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) combines the neurological effects of ketamine with the depth and safety of psychotherapy, offered here in partnership with Journey Clinical, who handle all medical evaluation, prescribing and monitoring. Unlike taking medication alone, KAP uses ketamine as a tool to help loosen the grip of entrenched patterns, making it easier to access difficult feelings and experience new perspectives on yourself and your relationships. For couples and multi-partner relationships, see Ketamine Assisted Couples Therapy.
KAP can be a powerful option if you are:
Trauma, PTSD or trauma-related symptoms that have been difficult to shift through traditional therapy
Anxiety, chronic stress or burnout that feels stuck or treatment-resistant
Sexual concerns rooted in past experiences
Relational patterns that have felt resistant to change (see Couples KAP)
A more embodied, non-ordinary state approach to healing
Who It’s For
Consultation (10–15 min): In a brief call, we confirm fit and licensure, clarify your goals and review scheduling and logistics.
Intake (Session 1): We map goals, medical history and whether KAP is a responsible next step, coordinated with a medical evaluation through Journey Clinical.
Early Work: Preparation sessions to clarify your intentions, build felt safety and prepare you for what to expect in a medicine session.
Core Work: Medicine sessions (self administered sublingual lozenge), with me present throughout to guide and support you.
Integration: We translate what arose into everyday insight, anchoring gains into your ongoing therapeutic work and daily life.
What to Expect
Common Concerns KAP Can Address
Dissociation and emotional numbing
Hypervigilance and chronic anxiety
Shame that talk therapy hasn’t fully reached
Difficulty accessing or naming emotions
PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
Relational or sexual patterns that repeat despite insight
Treatment-resistant depression or anxiety
You experience more capacity to feel difficult emotions without being overwhelmed by them.
You notice less reactivity to old triggers and more room to pause before responding.
You develop greater self-compassion and new language for experiences that previously felt stuck or wordless.
Insights from sessions increasingly generalize into daily life and relationships, not just the room
What Improves Over Time
IFS (Parts Work): soften shame/avoidance, increase choice and self compassion.
EMDR: lower the “charge” on past experiences that impact daily life and relationships.
ACT/CBT: unhook from worry loops and take values aligned steps without perfection pressure
Methods I Draw From
-
Yes. Ketamine is an FDA-approved medication that can be legally prescribed off-label for mental health treatment. All prescribing is handled by the licensed medical providers at Journey Clinical.
-
This varies by person. Many people complete a series of 6 medicine sessions alongside preparation and integration work.
-
KAP is typically not covered by insurance. My standard session fees apply to preparation and integration sessions. Journey Clinical charges separately for medical evaluation and medication.
-
Yes, I also offer ketamine assisted couples therapy using the Enamory model. Learn more on the Couples KAP page.
